To buy the Pumpkins or not?

As we jump into a new month we are bombarded with posts about all things "fall". I continue to see plastic, wooden, crystal, real pumpkins flooding my feeds. Don't get me wrong I love fall but I do think that it is a bit overdone. After seeing all of these homes refreshed with "fall décor" I found myself rushing to the store to pick some up. As I was out I quickly lost my excitement.

Let's be realistic, Fall decorating gets put away the day after Thanksgiving. That means we have a little less than 2 months of it. Personally the pumpkins, the corn, and all the things that home goods is advertising just don't seem realistic to me. Less than 2 months and then I have to do it all over again for Christmas?!?! I am here to tell you it is okay to put down that little pumpkin décor you think you "need" and find a more cost effective way to decorate.

Décor wise, I don't think Halloween and Thanksgiving is really that fashion forward anyways. It isn't realistic to constantly keep up with the things that your favorite influencer is showing you. It also isn't enjoyable to constantly be replicating someone elses "dream" in your own space. Maybe that means taking a look around and thinking about what you want your space to represent and feel like when someone walks in. Now if that is a pumpkin spice wonderland than hey you go for it! Although for the majority of us I doubt it is. Take a minute to think about what you actually "need" vs. what your Instagram feed is telling you that you "need".

I realized I didn't need or even want anything fall themed and I decided to update an area of my home that I truly didn't love. My bedroom has become last priority in decorating because no one comes into my home and goes in there! It is the place I read the word, get ready, unwind at the end of my day, and even go to write these posts! I should create a space that I want to be in for those things! All I did was update my throw pillows and truly I think it made a world of a difference.

No I didn't go to TJMaxx or HomeGoods, I went to Ikea. Instead of buying new throws I bought covers and just stuffed them with some old pillows that I never used anymore! This is such an easy way to "refresh" a space and not feel guilty about the cost! Oh and if I want to switch it out all I have to do is take off the cover! The rust orange pillow in front is At Home and I bought it back in July! The dark green is here at Ikea, I love that it is suede and so soft! I linked the polka dot one for under $7 you really can't beat it!!

Will I be changing this for Christmas? Probably not. These colors happen to be "fall" but also fit into the theme of my bedroom. Don't feel like you need to have the most "on trend" pieces. Let's be real they aren't always worth it!

Love y'all and Happy Fall :)
