The holidays are just around the corner and that means that Christmas trees are going up! I know when I was trying to decide what to do with my tree this year I wanted something neutral, creme and gold color scheme, and nothing too "basic". I have come together with 5 tips for decorating your tree!

  1. Buy more lights than you think you need. My tree is pre lit but they just don't do enough so I buy an additional 500 lights. I know that sounds like a lot but I promise you it really makes the tree pop! If you can, try and snag "warm white" it always creates a cozier feel to the room.

  2. Pick what you like not what is "on trend"! I have seen so many beautiful trees and lots of trees that look the same. Make sure you are decorating how you want y'all!! I know I say this a lot but choose the colors because it brings you joy not because I love the color or your friends love it!

  3. Find things to fill in "gaps". If you have a fake tree like me after a couple of years the tree stops filling in as nice as it used to. I use different things every year but this year I went with 4 different props. Artificial poinsettia petals, pampas grass, glittered eucalyptus, and pine cones. All of them are linked and are great ways to add some filling to your tree where it is needed!

  4. Use fabric and stuffing as a tree collar. I bought a piece of gold material from Joanne Fabrics and white stuffing! I put the stuffing all around the bottom of my tree and then tuck the fabric around it! Save yourself some money and way less expensive to change every year!

  5. Lastly stay within your budget!! Find ways to switch up your tree from last year with a can of spray paint! I wanted some extra filling so I cut gold ribbon into 1 foot sections, twisted it together and shoved it into my tree! Don't want gold decorations anymore? Buy yourself a can of spray paint and you have new decor for way less money!

As always, create a space that brings joy and comfort into your home this year. 2020 has been one for the books and you deserve all the holiday cheer! Tag me taylorraehartz in all of your Christmas tree creations!!
