I have been meaning to write this post since we started the fireplace and truly life just got ahead of me! I wanted to give y'all all the information to do this on your own! Jenn now has an amazing fireplace that is such a talking point in her front room but before this space truly wasn't used, let alone bring joy!
My goal for any sort of update or complete room redo is to bring joy into that space. That is why I am so passionate about home design and loving the space you live in! Our homes are a place of rest, or at least should be! It is the place that we all get to rest our heads at the end of the night and ultimately that place should bring you joy. I am not saying that if your home doesn't bring you joy to redo the entire thing! Although I am saying to find a place that has no purpose, it could be a room, a corner, or even a cabinet under the sink. Give that place purpose, let it bring you joy!
The place of no purpose for Jenn was her front room! Her fireplace was a dark green, with an old gold frame.

As you can see it even became a place for clutter to hide behind! With the walls being Gray I knew we needed to brighten it up so we went with my favorite color of all....White! We used a rough surface paint. The BEHR 1 gal White Satin Stucco and Brick paint is linked here! Make sure you have a smaller angled paint brush to get in between all the cracks of the bricks first. We bought a roller and paint brushes because we weren't sure which would work better but we learned quickly that the paint brushes looked WAY better! The roller gets the job done faster but gives a more spongey look.
We decided to rip off the gold cover, this fireplace is no longer functional so we didn't need to keep it on. Taking it off gave a much more clean and open feel! After 4 coats we had the finished product and this is what it looked like.

When it comes to decor there were some major changes. The boat picture was gorgeous but way too big for this wall. Jenn found the old window from a boutique and we nailed the wreath to it! As one of my favorite DIY/Home bloggers would say "Shop your own Home"- @cynthiaharper Jenn did a lot of that! We brought the lanterns in from her front porch and kept some of the decor but just rearranged! This entire project was done for under $200!!
So next time you think you need to spend a fortune take a step back, shop your own home, and say hello to joy!
You can shop everything else in the links below! If you have any questions always DM or send me an email! I hope you love this transformation as much as I do.
